Proving the possible: WORKING OUT IN THE MORNING

4:30 a.m.: My eyes open on their own accord. 4:40 a.m.: Alarm 1 goes off. 4:45 a.m.: Alarm 2 goes off. 4:50 a.m.: Alarm 3 goes off. 5:10 a.m.: Leave apartment. 5:25 a.m.: Arrive at gym. 5:30 a.m.: Start workout. Never in my life did I think I would be able to regularly get up before 6:00 a.m., let alone get in a full body workout. For as long as I can remember, I worked out in the evenings after work. I would have my bag with me, and I’d drive straight to the gym. Half the time I would be having a mental discussion with myself..”I could just go straight home and nap. I could nap and then come back to the gym after.” I knew, though, that if I didn’t go straight from work, I wouldn’t go at all. For probably all of 2015, I was a PM workout gal. Every now and then, I would muster up the energy and go to a 5:30 a.m. class on Fridays. This was mostly reserved, however, for me to go to Happy Hour after work on Friday. Cut to March 2016 when I started taking a…

The Sunday Ritual: Meal Prep

I have this thing I do every week that I like to call ‘The Sunday Ritual’. Many of us have things like this – maybe it’s getting up and going to church, maybe it’s going for a Sunday walk or to brunch. Mine happens to be grocery shopping and meal prepping. Usually, I absolutely love to do both. However, I will admit that there are times that they are a chore. When I’m tired or exhausted after having a busy weekend, the last thing I want to do is cook for 3-4 hours. But, it’s become a part of my weekly routine, and it is what helps me stay on track and prepared for the week. We are all incredibly busy with tons of commitments. We have full time jobs, we are full time students, we balance a social life with our friends, time with our families, activities with people from our jobs whether it be sports teams or leading a club – not to mention trying to fit in time at the gym! With so much going on, how is it even possible that we could eat healthy and make healthy choices? For me, with so much going on all the time, I’ve found that meal prepping can be LIFE CHANGING and TIME SAVING. I don’t have time every single night to cook a lunch for the next day. Some people do – and…
